E2024 CVICU Neonatal Feeding Champion

This activity prepares the participant for the neonatal feeding champion role, including the use of evidence-based neonatal feeding strategies to promote positive short- and long-term patient outcomes.

Target Audience

Advanced Practice Nurses, Registered Nurses, and Rehabilitation Therapists working with neonates. 

Learning Objectives

  • Describe two indicators of infant readiness to feed
  • Explain three cues that indicate an infant needs a break or is not ready to feed
  • Describe optimal feeding position for fragile neonates
  • Describe two nursing interventions essential to support new moms with pumping
  • Deliver constructive feedback during a feeding assessment
