Special Presentation
ULTRASOUND SURVEILLANCE OF MONOCHORIONIC-DIAMNIOTIC TWINS
Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2023
12:00 – 1:00 p.m., Central Time
Presented by Clifton Brock, MD
Midwest Fetal Care Center
Testing monochorionic twins for twin-to-twin transmission syndrome (TTTS) in utero starting at 16 weeks can increase the chances of survival for both twins in the womb. This is the focus of a special Born Ready presentation by Dr. Clifton Brock, maternal fetal medicine specialist at the Midwest Fetal Care Center.
Objectives:
- Explain the embryology and related pathology unique to monochorionic placentation.
- Describe the rationale for surveillance and strengths and weaknesses of current clinical guidelines dealing with surveillance.
- Share how data supports (or not!) current screening guidelines.
- Identify concerning ultrasound surveillance findings that warrant escalation and intervention.
Born Ready Series
We are excited to partner with our fetal, perinatal and neonatal medicine experts to share clinical trends, best practices, care management tips, and updates on technological innovations to care for patients experiencing high-risk pregnancies and babies who are born prematurely or with special health care needs.
Series objectives:
- Identify current treatment and management options for a variety of perinatal, fetal and neonatal conditions.
- Discuss clinical changes that may alter the clinical care plan for prenatal care and delivery management.
- Identify common maternal diagnoses that can affect the newborn’s health after birth
