Chief Resident Presentation: Mycoplasma Madness: Diagnosis, Complications, and Management of Mycoplasma Pneumoniae Infections

Objectives:
- Outline the multiple possible manifestations of Mycoplasma pneumoniae infections that span several organ systems and presentations.
- Using case examples, identify evidence-based recommendations for diagnostic workup for Mycoplasma infections.
- Describe initial steps in management of several presentations of Mycoplasma infections, including those affecting the skin/mucocutaneous surfaces, the CNS, and the lungs.
- Using examples, discriminate between the appearance of RIME (reactive infectious mucocutaneous eruption) and other skin conditions that may require subspecialized burn and dermatologic care.
