This is a proctored skills workshop with Erin Taylor, DNP, APRN, CPNP-PC, PNP-ED in which participants will be able to demonstrate, practice, and gain mastery in acute pediatric wound care and suturing.


The workshop will be held in the 2nd Floor Education Center on the Minneapolis Children's Hospital Campus from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm.

Completion of the online modules is a prerequisite to attend the workshop. If you have not taken the online modules, click the link here to register. 

Target Audience

Physicians, Advanced Practice Nurses, Physician Assistants, and Nurses who suture.

This workshop is optional unless you are a Children's Minnesota employee who needs to complete this course as part of your credentialing or program requirements. 

Learning Objectives

  • Discuss the management of various types of wounds: including the appropriate wound closure technique, selection of suture/wound closure material, cleaning, and preparation of the wound for closure.
  • Demonstrate the ability to select the appropriate instruments and suture material to perform various types of suture techniques.
  • Demonstrate the techniques used for tissue undermining, the corrections of simple tissue deficits, and the application of wound adhesive.
