E101326 Legacy Lecture Series: Loni, Friedel, David and Jeffrey Stillerman Lectureship: Trust, Accountability, and the Future of Care

This year's Loni, Friedel, David and Jeffrey Stillerman Lectureship was presented by Dr. Uché Blackstock.

The recording for this lecture is limited to Children's employees only.

Dr. Uché Blackstock is the New York Times bestselling author of LEGACY: A Black Physician Reckons with Racism and the Founder and CEO of Advancing Health Equity, a strategic consulting firm that partners with hospitals, public health agencies, foundations, and healthcare organizations to integrate equity into leadership, strategy, operations, and care delivery.

An emergency medicine physician and former Associate Professor at NYU School of Medicine, Dr. Blackstock’s work centers on redesigning health systems, medical training pathways, and institutional practices so that equity is not aspirational but operational. She has served as a medical contributor for NBC News and MSNBC, bringing clarity to complex issues at the intersection of medicine, policy, and public trust.

Dr. Blackstock has spoken on influential platforms including the United Nations and Aspen Ideas: Health, and in 2024 was named to the inaugural TIME100 Health list for her impact and leadership in reimagining more equitable systems of care. She earned both her undergraduate and medical degrees from Harvard University, becoming, alongside her twin sister, the first Black mother–daughter legacy graduates in Harvard Medical School’s history.

Healthcare professionals are navigating a moment of extraordinary change. They are balancing the demands of patient care with rapid innovation, evolving expectations, and growing pressures on the people and institutions responsible for delivering care. In this interactive lecture, Dr. Uché Blackstock will explore how trust, accountability, and a renewed sense of agency can help healthcare professionals and institutions navigate this moment while staying grounded in their purpose. Drawing on her experiences as a physician, leader, author, and advocate, she will examine what it takes to build systems that better support both the people who deliver care and the communities they serve, and how meaningful change can begin within our own spheres of influence.
