Amygdala Management for Clinicians: How to create new neural pathways to react differently when under stress
Presenter: Janelle Banat, MSOL, PCC, Executive Coach, Founder, and CEO, Footlamp Consulting, LLC
Objectives:
- Explain how the amygdala affects the prefrontal cortex when we are in a threat state.
- Discuss David Rock, PhD's neuroscience research on emotional and psychological threats often found in our everyday lives at work and home.
- Identify the five areas of threats we humans encounter, and how we have seen them commonly show up for clinicians and other healthcare leaders in our coaching roles.
- Leverage the evidence-based tactics we use at Footlamp Consulting to help our clinician clients build new neural pathways so they can respond differently to these threats both in the heat of the moment, as well as long-term.
