2022 TIEP Module 3: Coagulation Defects
Coagulation defects are largely responsible for the disproportional mortality caused by hemorrhage. Tranexamic acid (TXA) and massive transfusion protocols are useful tools to combat bleeding in injured patients. This trauma internal education module focuses on coagulopathy, massive transfusion, and the use of TXA in injured pediatric patients. Emergency Room and Trauma Care Clinicians.
- Review current research on the use of blood products to support hemodynamically unstable injured children
- Describe coagulopathy in the injured pediatric patient
- Outline potential interventions that can be taken to address coagulation defects
