L060826 VIRTUAL 43rd Annual Katkov-Lundeen Visiting Professorship in Pediatric Cardiology and Cardiovascular Surgery
This year's professorship will be presented by John M. Costello, MD, MPH. Dr Costello is the Vice Chair of Clinical Research for the Department of Pediatrics and a Professor of Pediatrics at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). He also serves as the Director of Research for the Children’s Heart Center and is an attending pediatric cardiac intensivist in the CICU at MUSC.
Dr. Costello’s research focuses on perioperative clinical trials and outcomes research in critically ill children with cardiac disease. He is a Steering Committee member of the NICHD-funded Collaborative Pediatric Critical Care Research Network (CPCCRN) and a MPI in the NHLBI-funded Pediatric Heart Network. He currently serves on the Executive Committee of the Pediatric Cardiac Critical Care Consortium (PC4) and the Steering Committee for the Collaborative Research for the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Society (CoRe-PCICS). He is a Senior Associate Editor for Cardiology in the Young and serves on the Editorial Board for the World Journal for Pediatric and Congenial Heart Surgery.
Dr. Costello is a Past President of the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Society. He is the Inaugural Chair of the American Heart Association’s Pediatric and Congenital Critical Care Committee and a member of the AHA’s Council on Lifelong Congenital Heart Disease and Heart Health in the Young Leadership Committee. He is the Board Chair-elect for the Children’s Heart Foundation.
Pediatric cardiology is an evolving field, with new studies, patient experiences, and procedures resulting in shifts in our care practiced on a continuous basis. As a pediatric cardiologist specializing in cardiac intensive care; as well as an active clinical investigator, and Executive Committee member of the Pediatric Cardiac Critical Care Consortium, Dr. John Costello will share current research and care strategies for patients in the pediatric cardiovascular intensive care unit.

- Discuss current management strategies for care of neonates with critical CHD, and the impact these have on medical management in light of recent study findings.
