This year's K. Bruce Fehr, MD Memorial Lecture is presented by Ashish Shah, MD, MEd.
Dr. Shah is Associate a Clinical Professor, Pediatric Emergency Medicine Physician, Division of Emergency Medicine, Rady Children's Hospital, UCSD. He completed his Pediatrics Residency at the University of Minnesota Pediatric Residency, Minneapolis, MN. He then completed both his Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship and Advanced Simulation Certification for Fellows at the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, Cincinnati, OH. He presents locally, nationally, and internationally on a variety of topics.
K. Bruce Fehr, MD Memorial Lecture
Dr. Bruce Fehr was a Pediatric Emergency Medicine Physician as well as a Lean Improvement Consultant at Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota. He worked zealously to improve the delivery of healthcare to the children in our community.
Dr. Fehr completed his medical degree at the University of Manitoba and his pediatrics residency at both the Winnipeg Children’s Hospital and the University of Minnesota. He was the first Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellow at the then Minneapolis Children’s Medical Center and also earned an MBA from the U of M Carlson School of Business. He subsequently became the first physician Lean fellow at Children’s Hospital and Clinics of Minnesota. Bruce also served on the Family Advisory Council.
With these tools under his belt, Bruce merged the science, art and business of healthcare for children. He had a passion for improving the process of healthcare delivery.
This presentation will be held both in-person in the 2nd Floor Education Center on the Minneapolis Campus with lunch provided while quantities last or virtually. We will try our best to provide a meal for you; however, all is dependent on final number of attendees.

- Reframe failure in resuscitation from an individual shortcoming to a systems-level learning opportunity.
- Design a structured approach to collect, review, and act on resuscitation data to promote continuous learning and safety.
- Lead cultural change in the resuscitation bay by fostering an environment that prioritizes safety, reflection, and team-based improvement over fear of error.
