L101124 Fall Neonatology Provider Competency and Skills Practicum
Join us for procedural skill practice with our group of expert neonatal providers at Children’s Minnesota! During this session, you will have the opportunity to practice a variety of high-risk neonatal procedures in a hands-on manner. You will also be able to partner with one of our neonatal nurse practitioners or neonatologists for questions or guidance.
You will gain valuable practice on the following procedures: Intubation, chest tube insertion, lumbar puncture, PICC line placement, umbilical line placement, peripheral arterial line placement, LMA placement, pericardiocentesis and interosseous insertion. Additionally, you will participate in a multidisciplinary neonatal simulation with the neonatal providers.

Children Minnesota neonatal clinicians.
Learning Objectives
- Participate in a group simulation activity
- Demonstrate competence and engage in deliberate practice in several neonatal procedures (intubation, chest tube, thoracentesis, defibrillation/cardioversion/pacing)
- Explore self-directed practice stations with several neonatal procedures (Pericardiocentesis, PICC placement, umbilical line, IO, LMA, bladder tap, LP, paracentesis, PIV placement, arterial line placement, tracheostomy station, transport station)

First 60 minutes - Participation in group simulation activity
Next 45 minutes - Facilitated procedure stations
Stations include: Intubation, LMA placement, IO, Chest tube/thoracentesis, defibrillator, paracentesis, pericardiocentesis, lumbar puncture, bladder tap, exchange transfusion, neonatal transport, PICC placement, arterial line placement, X-ray station
Final 75 minutes - Self-directed and/or proctored skills stations
Stations include: Intubation, LMA placement, IO, Chest tube/thoracentesis, defibrillator, paracentesis, pericardiocentesis, lumbar puncture, bladder tap, exchange transfusion, neonatal transport, PICC placement, arterial line placement, X-ray station
