The goal of this course is to provide an opportunity to practice trauma informed care communication techniques and explore the trauma in lactation promotion in the NICU. The course is 2 hours long, including 20 minutes of pre-learning content. During the course, we will have actors embedded into the simulations, to allow for realistic practice of trauma informed care communication strategies.
All attendees will wear a mask during the session and follow COVID-19 Guidelines for Simulation.

Target Audience
This session is designed specifically for Children's Minnesota Professional Staff.
Learning Objectives
- Describe the role of trauma in the NICU.
- Describe the principles of trauma informed care.
- Examine personal bias surrounding lactation in the NICU.
- Demonstrate strategies for providing trauma-informed lactation promotion in the NICU through simulation scenarios.

The Simulation Center is located on the 3rd floor in the River Tower on the Children's Minnesota St. Paul Campus. Take the River Tower elevator to 3rd Floor.
