This program prepares the Advanced Practice Provider (APP), either NNP or PA, or NICU Hospitalists, to utilize best practices in procedural skills and leadership and communication skills. The class utilizes simulation-based mastery learning (SBML) to help the participant solidify skills necessary for onboarding. SBML allows all learners the opportunity to achieve learning outcomes with an individualized amount of time required based on learner needs,

The program goal: Upon completion of the neonatal boot camp, NNPs/PAs/Hospitalists will solidify skills essential to the onboarding to practice as an APP.

 

Target Audience

Neonatal Nurse Practitioners (NNP), Physician Assistants (PA), and NICU Hospitalists with NICU APP experience will complete a one-day Neonatal boot camp as part of the orientation process.

Learning Objectives

  • Practice communication and teamwork skills
  • Introduce common neonatology procedures and equipment
  • Participate and lead several neonatal clinical scenarios
  • Discuss workflow with various processes in the NICU setting
