A preceptor is a member of Children's Minnesota Professional Staff who wishes to provide direct supervision and guidance to trainees participating in clinical experiences onsite in our clinics and hospitals. Those interested in becoming a preceptor must agree to participate actively in the achievement of clinical and practical objectives that are part of the course requirement and must participate in any clinical evaluation of the trainee. The preceptor also assumes full responsiblity for the trainee at all times. As a preceptor, you must have privileges to perform the duties or tasks that are to be performed by the trainee. Refer to the Children's Minnesota Supervision Grids before precepting a trainee to ensure there is a mutual understanding between the care team and the trainee as to what clinical procedures are allowed and supervision levels that are required based on the training level.

Each weekly email offers an engaging 3-5 minute video, instructions to observe, engage, and model concepts in practice, key reflective prompts, and ways to learn more.
