Virtual Pediatric Integrative Experience

This 2-day course is designed for nurses and other healthcare professionals working with children in both inpatient and outpatient settings.  Focusing on concepts of holistic/integrative healthcare, including interactive & experiential components. New 1/2 day pre-conference in essential oil training.

  2. Demonstrate how to coach patients in diaphragmatic breathing
  3. List different recommended relaxation and breathing apps
  4. Discuss common theories in health and nutrition
  5. List 3 recommended dietary changes for improved health
  6. Explain the concepts of imagery vs. hypnosis
  7. Discuss modifications in the use of imagery based on age
  8. Explain use with procedural pain
  9. Demonstrate favorite place imagery
  10. Describe the benefits of massage therapy for pediatric patients and the role of the nurse
  11. List the indications and contraindications of pediatric massage
  12. Demonstrate key hand and foot reflexology points
  13. Review the basics of Korean Hand Therapy
  14. Discuss the principles of healing touch energy work
  15. Demonstrate healing touch techniques
  16. Describe self-care and holistic health coaching
  17. Identify the impact of incorporating integrative strategies into nursing practice and pediatric care
  18. Explain family centered care
  19. Describe the principles of music therapy
  20. Identify ways to select and incorporate music into patient care

  1. Define mind body medicine
  2. Identify different mind body strategies
  3. Discuss cultural aspects of medicine
  4. List 3 different types of alternative medicine systems
  5. Outline the basis of supplements and common recommendations for the pediatric population
  6. Explain the basis of acupressure and acupuncture
  7. Identify the common acupressure points for nausea, pain, anxiety
  8. Discuss yoga poses and strategies for patient care
  9. Describe yoga poses for self-care
  10. Review the principles of meditation
  11. Discuss different meditation techniques
  12. Identify three areas of self-care to improve overall health
  13. Identify changes that can be made in specific clinical settings to incorporate integrative nursing strategies.
